Take Me Home, Country Roads

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah river

Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia,
mountain momma
Take me home, country roads...

The country roads take us Morgantown to the airport. As you can see, it was bustling with activity.

Here's Janice and Ted, as we wait to rent a car.

Morgantown was the place we went our separate ways. I went to Wheeling, WV. Janice went to Saltville, VA. Ted went to Huntington, WV.

The drive to Wheeling from Morgantown was a wet one. Lots of rain. I took 79 North to Pittsburgh and then headed east on 70 to Wheeling. This is a picture from my hotel parking lot at one of the bridges. This bridge leads to the Downs which is a casino and dog track. It was within walking distance of my hotel but I didn't go. I'm going to Vegas later this month.

This was the other bridge. This bridge crosses the Ohio River and into Ohio.

This is downtown Wheeling at night from my third story hotel room. It's quiet. The lady at the front desk said that it seems like the town rolls up the sidewalk at night. It was a very quiet night.

I decided to kick back and watch some football before starting my enrollment on Monday.

This is a picture of the bridge from my hotel room. This was at 7:30 am.

This is what the weather looked like 1/2 hour later! Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful (wish I were in front of a fire at that time!)

I've met a lot of cool with Aflac and Dan is one of them. He is a DSC in WV. I was partnered up with him and we worked from 9 am to midnight on Monday. We were hardcore.

This is where we were enrolling. Today we worked from 9 - 6 and we completed the enrollment. We both saw about 60 ee's.

Tonight I had my first opportunity to check out downtown Wheeling. I walked around and checked out what I have not explored. It was cold! My face and lips were numb.

This is a shot down Main Street.

This is a shot of a Xmas tree along the Ohio River. I walked down this street and I came across an arena. I want to say that a hockey game was being played tonight.

Lewis and Clark are famous explorers. Maybe I should add my name to this sign because I am exploring Wheeling!

Hey, here's Market Street! This is far from the Market Street we know in SF!
I walked around to find a place to eat and I found a small tavern by the hotel and it was perfect.

I've been eating salads for the last two days so tonight I decided to treat myself to a rib-eye steak with mashed potatoes and beets. It wasn't the greatest steak I've had, but I was famished and loved every bite.

This is the bridge that goes to the casino. Looks cool. There wasn't much walkway across the bridge to walkover so there was no way I was going to try.

Now I'm back in my hotel room watching a classic Ruldolph the Red Nosed Reindeer special on TV. This reminds me of my childhood around Xmas time. Tomorrow I'm walking down to the bus station to take a bus to Columbus, OH. From there, I'll rent a car and drive down to Lancaster, OH and stay there for my next enrollment. After that, I'll go back to Columbus and then fly out to SFO!
It's been a fun trip but I am missing home.
